Wake County Sees Increase in Single-Family Home Starts

Evidently, according to the latest housing data, new single-family housing building permits were up 10 percent in Wake County during the month of March when compared to the same period last year.

This suggests that the housing market is making a comeback and gaining in strength.

What You Should Know About Triangle Housing Starts

The Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County recently released data about the local housing market in Wake County. Here’s what they found:

  • The largest percentage growth of singe-family housing building perits was in Apex, Morrisville, Wendell, Rolesville and Fuquay-Varina.
  • The biggest declines were in Cary and Garner.
  • Permits remain down 7 percent in Wake County when comparing the previous 12 months to the 12-month period between April 2014 and March 2015.
  • During the 12-,month period, permits were down in Cary, Raleigh, Apex, Knightdale and Angier.
  • Permits increased in Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Morrisville, Wendell and Zebulon.
  • The largest percentage increase was in Wendell. In that community, permits increased 70 percent.
  • The largest decrease was in Knightdale. In that community, permits decreased 64 percent.
  • In some areas, including Cary and parts of Raleigh, there is a shortage of available lots for builders at this point.
